Dwellers and Country Saga by David Estes-Ice Country

I'm thrilled to announce that I'm going to be hosting not one, but two, posts for David Estes' Earth Dwellers Book Blast!

Keep an eye out for the kickoff post and giveaway scheduled to start September 5, 2013.  And stay tuned for my interview with David scheduled for September 10, 2013.

In the meantime, I'm going to be posting my reviews of the Dwellers and Country Saga books that culminate in the upcoming release of The Earth Dwellers. Up today is Ice Country, Book #2 in the Country Saga.

Ice Country (The Country Saga, #2)Ice Country by David Estes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A hot-headed hero on a rescue mission...

Ice Country is the sequel to Fire Country, set in the realm first imagined in David Estes' Dwellers Saga. Hundreds of years after a Meteor smashes into Earth, humanity is scattered into small pockets of varying levels of civilization both above and below ground.

Dazz, a young brawler, and his best friend Buff get in a barroom brawl and smash up their favorite bar in the process. To redeem themselves and gain forgiveness from the owner, they take a gamble in a high stakes game of chance hoping to win enough to pay for the repairs with disastrous results. The pair are conscripted into the service of their king to work off their debt, but in their new job they discover a dark secret.

I love the vibrant characters and fast-paced action, but my favorite element in this story are the friendships. This is one of those books that keeps you up at all hours of the night devouring one chapter after another.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves well-written books in the ya dystopian genre.
